USTA Membership Dues Increase
1. Please explain the dues increase?
The USTA Board of Directors recently approved an increase in membership dues – the first since 1994. Effective November 1, 2002, dues will increase in most membership categories. This increase is necessary to help offset the growing operational, postage and printing costs, but more importantly, to continue to provide great benefits, programs and services to our members. USTA membership remains a great value.
2. Why is a membership dues increase necessary?
The last dues increase was in 1994 – almost 9 years ago! Since that time, the rising costs of providing benefits and services have been absorbed entirely by the USTA. The dues increase is necessary to help offset the growing operational, postage and printing costs, but more importantly, to continue to provide great benefits, programs and services to our members. USTA membership remains a great value.
3. When does/did the increase take effect?
This increase is effective as of November 1, 2002.
4. When will I see this increase or new membership rates?
The new rates will take effect upon renewal of your current membership. You will receive your renewal notice about 2 months before your membership is due to expire. When you renew, we encourage you to upgrade your membership to a three or five year term. You will not only take advantage of significant discounts, but also lock in the rate for a longer period of time without the worry of renewing each year.
Membership and Registration
1. How do I update my membership profile?
Contact Membership Services directly by calling 1-800-990-USTA, option 0, or by sending an email to Memberservices@Usta.com.
2. Can I register for more than one team?
Yes. You can register for as many teams as your section allows as long as you meet the team requirements. Please contact your local league coordinator if you are unsure what your section allows.
3. How do I know if my registration was accepted?
Upon completion of credit card approval, you should receive a confirmation page indicating an invoice number and player number. If you are unsure about this and would still like to confirm, then click on the stats & standings link and enter either your USTA number or the team number that you registered with. The team roster of every team that you are registered on will be displayed. If you don't see your name listed, then your registration was not complete.
4. How do I change teams, remove myself from a team or make any modifications to my registration?
Please contact your league coordinator.
5. How do I find a team to register on?
Check with one of the following:
1. Your local USTA Section/District or Community Tennis Association.
2. Your local Tennis facility.
3. A captain of an existing team that you wish to join.
4. Local league coordinator listed on the section website.
5. Try the League Locator on this website.
6. If I have a team number, how do I register?
Sign into the system by entering your USTA # in the Tennisball on the lower right side of the TennisLink home page. Then you will be brought to league registering. Be sure to have your team number, local phone number and Credit Card number available before you begin. Follow the 3 easy steps outlined on the page.
7. How do I enter a scorecard for a match? Confirm a score?
Sign into the system by entering your USTA # in the Tennisball on the lower right side of the TennisLink home page. Then follow the link on the left side, "Score Entry". You will be asked to enter the match number, which should have been supplied to you by your team captain or local league coordinator. Follow the screens to enter all of the information. If you are not a member of either team in that match, you will not be able to proceed. All match participants must appear on team(s) roster for scorecard to be reported. Before beginning, verify that everyone who played in the match is on the team(s). It is a good idea to have a copy of the scorecard with the correct match scores and players in front of you prior to beginning the entry process.
A member of the opposing team will need to go into the same scorecard and verify what has been entered. Follow the same steps as above, but this time you will need to verify the scores and mark the match completed or disputed. This will complete the scorecard process.
8. How do I find out my team standings? Rosters?
Follow the link on the left side, "Stats & Standings". You will have three options in which to gain information...use the option that best suits the information that you already have. All three options will link you to various reports including rosters, standings and individual player records. Follow the instructions on the screen in order to complete this process.
When viewing a report, any item that is underlined has a link or links to other reports.
9. Why doesn't my NTRP rating appear on the team roster? I went to a rating clinic last month.
Visual or On Court ratings may not be added to you membership profile at this time. However, if you received a computer generated rating for last year's play, you need to check with your local coordinator to see why it is not on your record.
10. How do I record a score if I don't know the player number?
You can enter scores on the internet without using player numbers. The input screen has drop down boxes showing rostered players to select for each match. To call in the score, go to "Stats & Standings" and enter the team number and you will see a list of the players registered on the team with their player numbers.
11. How do I record a default?
On the Scorecard entry screen, indicate if the match was completed, a default, a double default or retired. The system will automatically choose completed unless you change it to retired, default or double default. Keep in mind that the score you enter and the status you choose will be verified upon completion.
If the match is a default, you only need to enter the winning team players or player numbers. The winning team score will automatically fill in with 6-0, 6-0 upon completion. Only the winning team players qualify for a match played.
If the match is a double default match. No further entry is required. Neither team gets credit for a win. Neither team's players qualify for a match played.
If the match is a retired match, enter the scores exactly as they are played.
12. What should I do if I make a mistake after I have confirmed by scorecard?
Contact your Local League Coordinator to report the error. A person authorized to change scores will make the correction.
13. My rating is incorrect as it appears on the team roster, how can I get it fixed?
Notify your local league coordinator.

Do I have to have an NTRP rating to play league tennis?
How do I get an NTRP rating?
Where can I go to get a rating?
How do verifiers determine an NTRP rating?
How can I change my rating?
How can I lower my rating?
I got a rating from a verifier last year, can I still play at that level?
I don't agree with the rating they gave me, can I get re-verified?

Other Membership Concerns
1. I just got my USTA membership, can I register immediately for the league?
In most cases yes! If you became a member online or spoke to a member services representative M-F, 9-5pm EST then the number is available immediately for you to register. If you spoke to a representative after normal business hours, your USTA # will not be available immediately and can take several days for it to be validated. If you are attempting to register online, an error message will appear if in fact the number is not valid.
2. I don't know my membership number?
How do I get a membership?
Why haven't I been getting my magazine?
I've lost my card, how can I get a new one?
I already mailed in my membership, why isn't it updated?
For all of these
questions, contact the USTA Membership Services at 1-800-990-USTA,
9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday or by going to WWW.usta.com
and click on the link for membership.
